Memorial Day Weekend Begins

In Hamptons on May, 27 2011

Ah, Memorial Day Weekend is here!  At 3:58 pm, New Yorkers mad dash for the cannonball train which travels directly to The Hamptons.  For those religious train takers, like me, you know that the “only” way to travel is by reserving a seat on the parlor car (as known as Hamptons Reserve), or else you end up most likely not finding a seat.  However, standing for two hours on the train is better than sitting for five hours on the Jitney on a holiday weekend: route 27 is a no.  The crowded, hot, yet fashionably dressed train is the first sign to a great Hampton weekend.

When arriving at the Southampton train station, it felt like summer was just yesterday: tons of gorgeous cars waiting to pick people up, Hometown Taxi screaming “taxi, taxi”, the best magazines waiting to be picked up along the sidewalk, and that same amazing Hampton smell that you can look forward to each summer.

When I got home, I quickly changed to head to dinner at Sant Ambroeus in town.  Lots of new restaurants are opening this weekend, but I like to stay rather local considering the traffic is horrendous.

I’m excited to announce that this was my first white-jean-wear of the season, and boy did it feel good.  Since it was rather warm outside, but with a cool breeze, I paired my white jeans with one of my new summer buys: a pink and white floral long sleeve blouse from LF.  I love this blouse because it is cropped, and the sleeves are dramatic with its ruffle detailing.  I accessorized with my nude pumps, my nude and rose-gold hardware Balenciaga purse, and my Jennifer Miller rose-gold and white cocktail ring.  Lots of women at the unsurprisingly crowded restaurant fashioned patterned blouses, a variety of colored jeans (including white), bright dresses, and dressy shorts.

Whether you’re escaping to the Hamptons like me, or any place else, this is the weekend to see and be seen, but don’t forget to relax too!
