Mani/pedi enthusiasts, get ready to splurge a little, because Essie has opened its first flagship nail salon on the Upper East Side–today.
The mod decor was done by Peter Millard–a white, sleek aesthetic that screams squeaky clean, the ultimate backdrop for all of the [approximately 300] Essie nail polish bottles, perfectly placed on the wall.
There is one additional pop of color, however, via the deep purple/pink hued leather love seats reminiscent of popular Essie shades, such as Bahama Mama, where clients get their nails done.
Essie Weingarten founded the Wicked brand in 1981, and L’Oréal later purchased it. The brand is now carried in over 100,000 salons in the US, so this flagship is another one of Weingarten’s major accomplishments. The salon (Samuel Shriqui; 35 East 65th street (between Park and Madison avenues)) is even offering Weingarten’s signature manicure for those who request, as she’s been going to this salon for over 20 years.
So although these mani/pedis don’t fall into your usual $8 charge (manicures start at $32 and pedicures start at $65), treat yourself to the land of Essie, and dip your toes into her world of colors.
For those who need some bottles a little closer to home, below are my favorite Essie nail polishes of the season.
