Milly’s Madison Avenue Boutique Opening

In Fashion Designer on May, 20 2011

Madison Avenue has graced us with yet another fabulous new store: Milly.  Last night, designer Michelle Smith (who fashioned a gorgeous purple maxi dress) and CEO Andrew Oshrin, along with the Central Park Conservatory Playground Partners, celebrated the opening of the Milly Madison Avenue Boutique.

This is the first Milly boutique in the United States, allowing us a one-stop for the entire Milly collection and then some: mommy and me outfits, bright handbags, chunky jewels and a wedding salon for those who are going to be walking down the aisle to here comes the bride, all fashionably dressed, including the hot addition of a reception dress.

Not only is Smith innately talented and ambitious, but she gained experience with the top worldwide fashion houses.  While studying at  at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology, Smith worked at the Hermes boutique in NYC to help pay for her tuition. Talk about amazing!  Smith then wrote to the President of Hermes requesting an internship at the Paris headquarters-this led her to be the first American Hermes employee sent to work at Hermes corporate headquarters.  Smith also interned at Louis Vuitton, Torrente, and Christian Dior Haute Couture.

I love Milly because everything is effortlessly chic, colorful and glamorous. The collections are truly happy.   The perfectly styled store-front windows pull you right into the store to get a stylish summer wardrobe.  Of course you will find Smith’s great dresses, tunics, and tops that we have loved for years.

Attendees of this exciting opening celebration included Fox’s Kimberly Guilfoyle Villency, CNN’s Poppy Harlow, “Morning Joe’s” Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough, CFDA’s Steven Kolb, and stylish socialite Karen LeFrak.  Guests were able to mingle with one another, sip on champagne, and nibble on macaroons.  Those who shopped the store during the opening helped raise money for the Central Park Conservatory’s Playground Partners.
